Joanne Abby, better known as "Jo," was
born in Guam, raised in San Francisco and Seattle, and made the move to the
east coast after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in
Chemistry. She then spent a year teaching middle school students in the
south Bronx with AmeriCorp and loved almost every bit of it. Jo is currently a medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University in
Syracuse, NY with a specific interest in pediatric orthopedics. She is thrilled about joining Team Sinai Haiti because she had such a great experience
during her last medical mission in Haiti and couldn't wait to return! Jo believes that "not much can beat great culture, surrounded by good people, and a rewarding
cause! :)"
